I'm pretty sure it was just barely February and somehow May is almost here!!! I'm excited for summer to finally come but that means the year is almost over. WOW!!!
It has been a couple crazy weeks. After my last post, Katie, Tyson and I headed for St. George for my Grandpa Cottam's funeral and to be with my mommy. We were able to make it home on Saturday to say goodbye to him and then he passed on Monday. My dad and all my brothers and sisters sang a beautiful version of 'O My Father' at the funeral and I accompanied them.
Then came the decision time to return home. I really wanted to stay and with Jake being gone for days at a time it made things a little easier. Except, we missed Easter together. But hey, after missing Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas what was one more holiday, right? (He did make it home for my birthday and valentines!!)
Anyway, we spent just over two weeks in St. George. Easter was wonderful being able to spend it with both sides of the family. I stayed with Jake's mom for the first half of the trip and then with my mom the second. It worked out really nice except the first half of the trip was so crazy with funeral stuff that my time went so fast.
After putting off coming home and having to drive 13 more hours with the kids I talked my mom into driving back with me and I got a screaming deal on a plane ticket for her. So, Sunday morning we left St. George at 5 AM and arrived in Great Falls around 9 PM. It made for a long long day, but having someone else to talk to and to drive made things bearable.
So, know I'm home, Jake's gone again for 7 days, but my mommy is here with me. We are shopping, sewing quilts, and cooking. It is a nice break for both of us. I am making new quilts for the kids for there rooms and re-decorating there room. Actually, I am decorating it because I have never done it before. I went with an American theme so that I could keep them in the same room and so it wasn't to juvenile. Being in the military and moving a lot makes it hard to decorate not knowing what our next house will be like. So, going as generic as possible and still making it cute.
I have Katie's quilt all done but still working on Tyson's. I'll post pics ASAP!!!
The day before Jake left for the field he took my mom fishing. They got up at 5 AM and headed to the lake. My mom was pretty excited to just be able to go fishing and have no other responsibilities to worry about. It was fun for her even thought she didn't catch anything. Jake caught a couple so that we could have fresh fish for dinner. It was actually pretty yummy as skeptical of fish as I am.
Tyson did not like the fish. He was scared to even take a picture with them. It was pretty funny. My daughter kisses the dead fish and tears the worms in half to string them on the hook, and my son won't even get close enough to take a picture!!!
So, after my novel of a post I'll close with how grateful I am for my family and the love we have for each other. I am so grateful for the knowledge I have of eternal families and the peace having the gospel in my life gives me.
